if its defaced… wonder if he took the value of it away?
read my profile
I like your profile story……very good indeed!!!
And so..so true!
to "deface" is not necessarily to affect the value of something. a more common and accepted definition of "deface" is "To mar or spoil the appearance or surface of; disfigure". i would argue loud and long with anyone here that what we do to money – all of us who stamp or mark the bills – constitutes defacing by this definition. certainly, all of us who will enter but not stamp a radar, ladder, or otherwise special note would be forced to agree. it is the LEVEL of defacement that is often subjective – some people here employ stategies, sizes and placements that i never would. i would hope that we allow someone the right to comment. we simply accept that the person who entered this note has a perfectly defensible opinion that we may or may not share.
Not my bills… I prefer to describe my marked bills as 'enhanced'. By simply looking at my stamp, everyone can be assured the bill left me fully examined, had any rips or tears repaired, given a clean bill of health, been recorded in the premier money tracking site in Canada, and sent on it's way with the full confidence that it is fit for another year or two of service.
'Enhanced' CMT Bills by:
Idjit!
i AGREE!! I have even ironed some that needed it badly. This put them from very good condition to extremely fine.
Not to mention that the Canadian legal definition of deface when applied to bank notes is 'to attempt to alter the value of the note'. So if it looks like a 20, feels like a 20, it IS a 20, and it has therefore NOT been defaced.
And also what has been done to a bill (i.e. drawing a beard on the Queen or making her look like the Devil).
I agree….We enhance bills,we do not deface them…
indeed… all in good fun. i am certainly impressed with
displays of blinkered rationalization that has been emoted &
i wholeheartedly agree! :) i will make certain to
only "enhance" with my stamp the next radar bill i offer to
the congregation through the forum. halleluiah! i have
seen the light!!!
a note in response to ironing and condition. ironing a bill cannot change its condition. a note in very good condition is judged that way because the paper fibres are broken. ironing cannot restore this, but may make a bill look less wrinkled. collectors notice this and shy away from such notes the way they do from polished or dipped coins. neophytes are often taken in by "enhanced" coins or ironed bank notes. something for all to be wary of.
shhhhhhhhhh
these were still nice and very crisp. just looked like a kid had them jammed into his pocket.
do you look at ironed shirts that way too?
maybe no one irons his shirts!!
:)
