may ( typeo!! i am pretty sure. )
Don't start correcting me or else i will make it soo awful you will give up on fixing my errors.

could be some strong medication that maggie is on too! or some nice hot toddys as she is not feeling well. and by the way, my name is spelled wrong. For what it is supposed to mean anyhow. My mother in law whom I have never met (deceased) called antiques "antics". She pronounced it that way so I spelled it that way.

I did that intentionally Lord_Comedy…I thought the name incorrectly would bring the smartypants to a halt…LOL..

Lord_Comedy

:) Ok Maggie
I just find names an important thing.
I have a step dad who finds it amusing to pronounce people’s names wrong. An example is a friend of my little brother's name is Kelsey, my step dad would always call him Chelsea.
We corrected him told him it was Kelsey not Chelsea.
In reply he said Kelsey, Chelsea, whatever..
I would say it isn't "whatever" it is "sorry"
English is always changing so one rule that stands now, may not stand 50 years from now. Look at old English when Shakespeare wrote plays, it was much different than now.
There are always new words being created. Spelling changed.
such that typo ( as Pooga says ) and I say Typeo
Typo & typeo would be the same word my annunciation would prove mine would be write, but with English being a very lazy language typo could stick only reason typo is in the dictionary ( and Typeo not .. if it is not) is that whoever was making the new colloquialisms and new words. Decided it should be typo as the English language changes it may change to my version.
Especially if others use it as I type it.

antics

but if that is the case me lord, and typo is to be spelled typeo,
would we then have to change the spelling of video or do we pronounce it vide oh

Lord_Comedy

All this is really a silly argument.
You can have english scholars argue about such things for days and solve nothing, as english evolves.

Pooga

vi de o
ro de o
ty pe o

If it looks like duck, is spelt like a duck, must sound like a duck!

I always thought your 'typeo' was a typo because I've never seen it written that way before.

Lord_Comedy

vi de o
ro de o
ty pe o type o cause the e is silent.. in type in rodeo and video you say the e sound when you use them..

problem with those .. is 2 of the words are 3 syllables 1 is 2 syllables

"I always thought your 'typeo' was a typo because I've never seen it written that way before"
that is fine i have seen typeo both ways, i never thought of checking a dictionary, as some words can be spelled more than 1 way.

Pooga

type o cause the e is silent
Making your own rules now??? lol!

Have just never seen the 'eo' pairing pronounced as 'o'. Can't think of any at the moment.

Any word I can think of is always pronounced 'e-o', as in our examples, or even the car, the 'Geo'! Or 'e-ah' as in geography.

Truly, language is evolving. Usually in abbreviating words, with exceptions, especially in technical terminology.

J-Lynn

Wasn't that the blood type on the DNA sample of … Monica.. oh that was ummm Mustard?

OOPS!
