What I read on the Forums have very little content. When an item is placed on the Forums of any interest members seldom reply or comment. So what is it about the forums that would make a member want to be a participant. Enter a contest once a month and if you guess correctly you win bragging rights. I am not knocking the contests but you have to admit they are not well received with the same 6 members placing their votes monthly. So tell me what forum would you like to see some activity on? Place an relevant message in that forum and see how many replies you get. If participation in the forums is required for promotions then place topics in the forums worthy to reply to. Anyone who agrees with this message Please reply and be counted.
I agree not much on the forums worth a reply.
The reason for this site is to enter your money! So that plus how long you have been active on site should be all that is required for a promotion. Nothing on the forums requiring comment until now. Count me as I agree.
This one seems to have caught your attention……If you want to supply prizes, I will see that they get delivered to the monthly winners. Maybe that would generate more interest.
It's called community.
Lots of things can be done on the forums.
Buying and selling Radars.
Reporting new prefixes.
Birthday and other personal wishes.
We even used to have arguments!
The site was set up so you get promoted for participating.
The Forums are just a part of the criteria.
Finally something worth a reply. I agree with the items in this thread and am please to reply to Cityscape comments.
It's called community.
Lots of things can be done on the forums.
Buying and selling Radars. Have a buyer for them already.
Reporting new prefixes. No reply required Pooga handles that.
Birthday and other personal wishes. Yes these deserve a reply.
We even used to have arguments! BC vs RUDYK They caused havoc with their arguments and Pooga's dressing down of the subject still remains on the Admin. Forum.
Funny fact when Rudyk left the site BC and Rudyk (MC) became friends after finding common ground.
As for real prizes for the contest that might break some laws so need to gather interest another way. Nov. & Dec. of last year you had double digit entry numbers find out what you did to rally the mases and do it again.
The site was set up so you get promoted for participating.
The Forums are just a part of the criteria.
In closing the teams were shut down the forums are very quiet so keep the forums active and people will reply. Dust off the old apple case / soap box and sound off.
I see we have a Hot Topic today. I AGREE with forum items to create traffic on the site. Speak your mind and see what happens.
wow now that's what i like. speak up and be heard! i fully agree. i am so happy to see such a good thread.
well done keep it up.
I agree you can count on me.
I must admit that I am part of the problem.
The site needs an update badly! dr has offered to pass the site over to me completely, but I am not a programmer and wouldn't know how to make the changes.
PLUS the code is over 25 years old!
Plus the cost of a server. dr has his own company server and it doesn't cost him anything. If he were to transfer the site, would he still be willing to host it for free?
Would we be willing to spend some cash on a professional rewrite? And if so, how much?
POOGA Thank you for your comments. You have talked about a few key items that belong in their own Thread or perhaps a series of threads or a survey to try and put the ducks in a row. Would I be willing to contribute for a make over ? Yes after I reviewed the Business Plan. Would there be a Board of Directors after the turn over so that if something ever happened to the key leaders that the site would continue. It seems people care but need a path to follow.
I like this idea
There was a time when the forum was more active. Cripes. There were even coffee meetings! I went to one and got to meet some great people
