Question?

I like to experiment with different marking techniques with my bills. Early in the summer I experimented with two web sites, alternating each, One on the front, the other on ther back or both on the back, one on top and one on the bottom. This was to see which marking works best. So far the results are inconclusive. However; what I have noticed is that I've had a few of my bills wind up in the hands of other bill trackers. Here at CMT; the users here gave me a hit here but not at the other site, where as a user at the other site gave me a hit at both sites. Now it wouldn't be fair to pass judgement on an entire community based on the actions of a few ol' biddies, so I will ask everyone this question. If you came across a bill with two (or more) web sites on it,(cmt being one of the sites), what would you do? I'll start off by saying that I would give that person a hit at all the sites on the bill. Why? Because I appreciate the value of a hit. A hit is a hit. If someone went through the trouble of marking more than one site on a bill, then he/she deserves the hits at all the sites. I wouldn't be stuck up and give only one hit to one site.

my time is so very limited. i would just do this one if both were on it. I have given several anonymous hits on 2 of the other sites if that is the only site marked on the bill. and i did NOT add this site. too much clutter on the bills is downright ugly.

1. I enter the bill on whatever sites are marked on it.
2. I don't mark the other sites bills with CMT. If is a WW bill, or a WHIB bill, it stays that way when it leaves me.
3. I do, however, enter it into the CMT database.
4. If the bill is marked with more than one site, I will enter it on whatever sites are marked on the bill.
5. I will never erase or disfigure someone else's stamp, unless it is faded or hard to see, then I might try to repair it.
6. My opinion, (and I'm assuming I'm allowed one here), is that marking a bill with two sites is confusing to outsiders who haven't been on a money tracking site before, and is counterproductive.

I would enter the bill on both sites if it is marked with both..

one site, CMT only

I will enter the bill on the other site and stamp my cmt stamp on one side.

My experience has been the exact opposite. As I mentioned before, I only mark CMT and I have had CMT marked bills entered at WW, but not here. So I do likewise. A WW is entered here only.

the competion is great but isnt the purpose in tracking bills to see where they GO not which site they are with ?

lack of time. It is not a matter of competetion, I just cannot be bothered to enter at 2 places. If one is this site, i will enter it here. if one stamp i will enter it wherever it is from. plus they should be marked with ONE site only and not 2. most people that come across a bill that is marked with more than one site will not enter it at either of them. one will intrique them, 2 will either confuse or harass them. make them not bother at all. to frustrating for someone is has not come across this type of thing before.

I have noticed some businesses stamp their addies on bills now as well for free advertising purposes… so I enter on both sites if i find a bill with the ww site on it but don't add the cmt addy to that bill… too cluttered and as I find from my friends when they see the bills they say if they had a pc they wouldn't enter it on any site if marked with more then one addy… :)

I believe Idjit has a good Series of points. i would hope everyone can follow that.
Marking a site with more than 1 money tracking site is counterproductive to all the sites. People who are not members at any of the sites .. as stated in previous posts. will not bother or become aggitated.

I agree, I enter them at the site stamped on it, annd enter it here…but I DO NOT stamp them with my stamp.

I just has a where's willy bill 3 days ago - stamped on one side only. I did not mark it with the cmt stamp…but entered it on both sites.

what can be done.. actually try to enhance a hit by people.. by writing on the back wheres willy,
i find writing kinda messy si i would cover the site on my stamp.. and stamp it.. with.. track this bill online.. then write whereswilly.com as neat as i could.

i forgot to put that in my last post..
but i had found a whereswilly bill in the past, but i neglected to enhance it anymore.. but i did post to both here and to whereswilly.. as the writing on it had been in pencil
and both sites had suggested enhancing the bill and help the user out..
I know I would appreciate the same being done for me!!!

the bill in question had a bright red stamp on it on one side. Nothing on the other. I figured that if that user wanted to stamp both sides, he would have. So I was not going to screw with his method. If his stamp was faded, i would have brightened it up in red pen or something, but as it was in good shape, I left it alone.
