If dr grants access to the guts of the site to antichess, what would we like to see? I'll start the list by dividing the list into "Must Have" and "Would Be Nice". Much of this depends on the cost of some features, hosting costs and of course compensation for antichess.
Must Have:
- Upgrade to HTTPS
- Get Maps working again ($$)
- Update postal codes database ($)
- Get stats lists working consistently
- fix # of users online glitch
Would Be Nice:
- New look and feel, especially on the home page
- Don't show users on stats lists who have been inactive for more than 90(?) days. Unless an option is checked.
- Tweak scoring formulas
- More stats. Be able to drill down to provincial leaders.
(hate to say it, but where's george has much better stats, too many ads though)
- Improved messaging system
- Get rid of teams
- Allow for larger profile pages. I reached my limit years ago
Utmost priority is the HTTPS upgrade and postal code database update. Get as many hits that otherwise wouldn't have happened first. Maps would be nice to have as well. From what it seems like the maps are broken because of how expensive the APIs can be, as well as websites changing their frameworks all the time. Shouldn't be too hard. Notifications would also be very nice to have. It seems like there used to be email and SMS notifications.
From a standpoint of a computer engineer–this site is very well coded and optimized. You rarely see sites nowadays that are able to query databases as quickly as cdn-money.ca. All the functions that used to work probably just need a minor tweak. I'm sure dr would be much better at upgrading these website functions than I would.
I would be 100% willing to pay for a postal code database update, as well as an HTTPS SSL certificate, plus a financial incentive to get that running, however much that may cost. I am CERTAIN that this would immediately double or triple the amount of hits that come in on a daily basis. Please relay this to dr.
I support it all!
Would be great to be current & up to date!
Count me in!!
I love everything put forward so far!
Maybe I am not the only one here who would like to see this website more mobile friendly. It would be nice to see even a way someone could have both.
And possibly another tier for inputs for those of us who are at the top so to speak.
I know it would give me more drive to imput more
