These bills are now destin for the mint scrap heep and they have stopped making them.
All that the banks get they have been instructed to return (remove from circulation).
I was told it was because they had become the bill of preference by dug dealers and soooo they were removed from print.

Yeah. The 1000$ bills were officially given the kybosh in 2000. The RCMP cited money laundering as a problem.
Personally, I liked them, and wish we still had them: a) because I'll probably never get to see one now outside of a collection and b) because I just thought they were cool and we were one of the few countries with a currency of this high a value that still made them.
Also, it's a lot easier to carry or have large sums of money. Ten bills versus one is a big difference. Of course, this has it's good and bad sides…e.g. the drug dealers…
Although I like the thousands, I wonder if they have considered, or whether they ever would consider, a 500$ bill. We had one way back in the thirties, and the Euro comes in a 500 denomination (remember, their currency's of an even higher value than the US!). Any thoughts about a 500$ bill?
(Hope it hasn't already been discussed?)
