Just thought I would post a link to the new counterfeit checker since it's very possible that you might have missed it. The link can be found on the main page before you log in and on the add bill page. And for those of you who are curious to see what happens, try entering ASN1172311 (a note that Idjit found recently).
And for those of you who are on the ball, you'll discover that you can also use this page to probe the system for prefixes that are not yet in the database.
If you discover a counterfeit note that is not in the database yet, either personally or via the media, please e-mail me right away so I can add the note to the database.
Enjoy!

this is a great tool for store owners and a nice toy for the rest of us. Good plan dr. Like the new features except the picture thing who wants to see my ugly puss anyways.
I ENTERED MY $10 COUNTERFEIT BILL AND IT WAS REGISTERED AS COUNTERFEIT. IF YOU EVEN SLIGHTLT SUSPECT A BILL IS COUNTERFEIT, THIS IS A GOOD PLACE TO CHECK IT. AND ALSO TAKE IT TO THE BANK AND GET THEM TO CHECK IT. I NOW HAVE 4 SOURCES THAT SAY MY BILL IS COUNTERFEIT. IS IT WORTH ANYTHING? P.S. NOT FOR SALE!
If you know the bill to be counterfeit, you should immediately head to your local police/RCMP station. You can NOT pass that bill on whatsoever.
Section 450 of the Criminal Code of Canada states: Everyone who, without lawful justification or excuse, the proof which lies on him, (a) buys, receives or offers to buy or receive, (b) has in his custody or possession, or introduces into Canada, counterfeit money is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen (14) years.

It's not going anywhere!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!
TEEPEEJAY CALL ME I WILL GET THE HANDCUFFS WARMED UP :-)
I heard (On the cdnpapermoney forums) that it is not Illegal to have the bill if you write Non legal tender, or Counterfeit on the bill, or something identifying it as not real. Therefore if the police do a search, and find the bill, the know that you have no intentions on spending it, selling it.
But this is not from a reliable source. Best thing to do is hand it to RCMP
TEEPEEJAY I will keep a cell open for you…..
I'll dispose of the bill for you, at a fee of $2.00. (I have tools to do this. They are called 'matches')
Thanks to rudyk, who send me a bunch of sites with known counterfeit serial numbers, there are now an additional 21 serial numbers in the database. That brings the count in the database to 35 known counterfeit serial numbers.

"I'll dispose of the bill for you, at a fee of $2.00. (I have tools to do this. They are called 'matches')"Better to give them to the police- they use them for demonstration and training.
FOUR bill #'s on their way dr with news clip (be sure to see attachment)
Please stop. You're scaring me.
Found this on USD
There was an article about this in Coin World (or maybe it was Numismatic News?) a year or so ago. Their conclusion was that it's illegal to (a) make counterfeits, (b) pass counterfeits, or (c) refuse to surrender counterfeits to the authorities upon request. So apparently it's not technically illegal to just possess counterfeits, but given (c) above, you'd want to do it quietly, since the authorities are likely to ask you to turn them in if they discover that you have them. (There's also some question as to whether purchasing a counterfeit note for your collection could be construed as the other party "passing" you the counterfeit, but that's not your legal problem….)
Ok that is the law in the US.. but what about in Canada??
Assuming USD has something to do with the US Dollar.. :)
