'have a crack at', 'take a poke at', take a swing at', hhmmm… seems that trying something implies something important… but I'm not psychiatrically qualified to say what!

I'm not sure either, but I thought I would plug it because most people spell it incorrectly. I use to win spelling bees in junior high.
