Just a note to let everyone know that there is now a daily maximum of 25 points that you can go up in one day. So while your CMT score on your user page or info box may say one thing, your score in the top 10 will never increase more than 25 points daily. This has been done to fight off those people who disappear for long periods of time and then drop by one day and are instantly back in the top 15, which doesn't seem at all fair.

That sounds great now if that is the case will a person who has not been on for say 30 days and then comes back for three days go up 25 points each of the 3 days they log in ?
How many points are gained for a hit? This limit will not effect a person who has an extremely good day will it?
I am sorry but I know so little on how the scoring works that I need to ask.
trust me, by the time you get 3 hits in one day - you will receive less than one point apiece. So, even if you got 25 hits that day - you would still be fine.
That's a great idea dr - keep up the good work…and thanx for putting the pic in my profile for me so fast
That is a great pic in your profile….
So if a person doesn't have any bills to enter for a week, he/she is out of luck? Or is it based on just logging in daily?
In other words, the way I read it, if I go away for a 3 week vacation, it will take me quite some time to get back up the list?
I think it is fair and should keep people more interested.. atleast those at the top will have reason to enter bills.
:)
Pooga
i beleive the scoring is roughly the same.. except the variable at the beginning has changed..
such that maybe 80 * ( ln ( sqrt ( bills entered ) ) +(ln(hits+1) ))( 1 - ( Days of inactivity / 90 ))
being days of inactivity is divided by 90 that is roughly 1 %
Pooga you are at 1000 so makes math simple.. 3 weeks on vacation you would drop roughly 210 points. ( provided you don't enter any bills while away )
9 days and you would be back up to your regular score..
i don't think that is too much of a commitment.
even for idjit say he though of quitting..
left the site for the 3 months..
1000 points.. = 40 days..
hmm looking at that.. it is roughly 1/3 of the time you leave that it takes you to get back in the top 10 list where you should be..
I'm not complaining.. but maybe 50 points is better.. to keep those at the top entering.. and incentive for others when they do leave to keep entering.. i am sure the scoring is something DR will continue to play with to find fair and fun scoring.
Funny but I am arguing with myself in this post..
I guess I like Dr's Idea.. it works for me, but I want it to be fun for all those who play.
I guess it is like business
As an employer.. You wanna make as much money as possible, but you want to be fair with employee's hours.
being in the moving business some times it is difficult to work both sides.
work is almost on call, sometimes you have 3 hour days.. sometimes 12.. i can't pay overtime over 8 .. but certainly if a person works over 80 hours in 2 weeks they deserve overtime.
I guess no matter what there is a comprimise.
Maybe dr could clarify this a bit. I sure he has no intention of penalizing regular users who miss a few days here and there, or even a week or so. Nearly everyone takes a vacation from time to time and might well be away for 2-3 weeks.
I agree, doesn't look like dr is punishing regulars. Those of us who visit the site often enough won't have to worry about this. I have seen a couple cases of people returning to the site after receiving hits in their e-mail, even though they had not logged on or entered bills in quite some time. I'm sure those are the kinds of people dr is referring to.
