Friday, my computer decided to cause me some trouble. Lost all 4 my hard drives in the trouble. A 10 gig, a 30 gig, a 40 gig, and an 80 gig. All my work and downloads over the last few years…gone. BACK UP FOLKS!!!

Yeh, like we haven't been told that before. Also, cheap, generic power supplies that come with a cheap case are a no-no.
I also lost a cd Burnerdvd rom combo. For some reason, the only thing I didn't lose was my dvd burner. whew.
Went to Future Shop and picked up 2-120 gig hard drives - they're on sale right now. After rebates - only $120 each.
Also picked up a good name brand 400 watt power supply while I was there. No more cheapo supplies for me. I've seen the light.
Anyways… there was over 120 messages to read when I got back. Just finished them. Just got my computer back up and running also.
I gotta say that smarts. Been there, done that. I now have a large UPS with power filters and a DLT tape backup. I hate it when years of work just disappear, but to lose all that hardware on top of it all, OUCH!

That's why you should run a RAID-1 based hard drive system, so that all your stuff is always on one hard drive if the other one fails.

yeh, I was thinking of that. But…ALL my hard drives went down. So in this case, it wouldn't have helped.
I LOST MY HARD DRIVE FOR MY WORK COMPUTER AND WAS TOLD ALL WAS LOST BUT THEN FOUND A COPY THAT RETRIEVED IT AT A BERY REASONABLE PRICE. THEY ARE IN SASKATOON CALLED ORANGE COMPUTER.

I hope they have more than one computer in stock.
