sincere condolescences, hit mamma… at least the wonderful teller gave you a hit!
may it rest in peace!
hey these days, just cuz its gone to BofC for mutilitation, doesnt mean that they will destroy it. They'll probably stick it in another brick and send it off to some other financial institution.
it says poor condition…
maybe the teller saw the stamp on the already destroyed bill and though to send some info to us..??
Seems to me that the teller (if that is who it was) was a bit overzealous. I've gotten lots of bills in very poor condition from bank tellers!
remember poor is the bottom level on the scale.
that means they are pretty mutilated
most bills i enter i would say are fine -> very fine condition.
look at how they grade them.. and you may change your thoughts..
most bills i get are fairly crisp even though well used..
Lately, a lot of the $5 bills I have received from the bank are bordering on poor. Limp, tattered and faded. I am surprised that many of them are still in circulation.
Yes CJ, I had looked at this hit earlier and was going to comment on it.
Hopefully it will be sent out in a brick to J-Lynn!
But honestly, CJ you see a lot of hundreds, how often have you seen one in bad condition? Especially one only 99 days old. Whenever I get hundreds at work, they are usually in near perfect condition, so I bet it will be returned to circulation.
I believe it probably was in poor condition. I have seen some pretty worn $100's recently.
well I think that teller was somewhat making a statement about marking bils. No matter some of these comments can get pretty funny.
If indeed it is destroyed, one can only hope it is due to the bill's condition and not because it is marked.

I have to agree. It is amazing how indignant some of the tellers get when they see marked bills. I try to avoid confrontations with them and deposit any marked bills via the ATM.
"It is amazing how indignant some of the tellers get when they see marked bills."
I once offered to give them a free seminar on money tracking so they could give us better service. No takers so far, but it sure cooled their rhetoric whenever I go there now…
when i opened a new account at bank of montreal.. a lady there said they mute them.. and send them to B of C to be destroyed
asked what she does to mute them
and it is just type in their serial # to let them know they are sending it.. ( to be know it is out of circulation)
i asked even if the bill is in nearly uncirculated condition..
she said yea
i told her about what i heard on here that bills having been sent to B of C to be destroyed being recirculated and if too many are sent by a certain branch of a bank they get in trouble. then i told her marking them isn't illegal we aren't destroying the bills or anything.. told her about the letter that is transposed on the site..
she said she'd have to talk to her manager.
so maybe some of these banks don't realize there is nothing wrong with it..
Wow.. i cant imagine them entering the serial number ..then sending them to BofC. I can see them entering the serial number of the bundle (like a ups stamp)… but not every bill. If they are still in fine condition.. BofC will send them back out. I dont think the tellers have the authority to say which is going to be shredded or not.
Come and see me to make a deposit.. i'll take any of your bills :)
