How about everyone just do the "right" thing and enter the bill on the marked site, enter on your site of choice and send the bill on it's way unaltered…….

Let's not be childish about it if someone chooses to be ignorant…..

and on that note, the bill I had was for wherehaveibeen. thought it was ww but it was a whib. and yes i entered it. anonymously and no I did not remove the handwritten url. but I did stamp the other side as I quite often do that before entering. ruined a few radars that way too.

I gotta admit that I have done that once or twice myself…. Once you get that stamping rythym going it is hard to stop…

His bill only had one faded line on the back and I almost missed it! Now there are 2 additonal lines obove the existing one, a hi-lited serial # and a :) on the front. I try to keep my markings to a minimum if I can and while it may sound like a lot it really isn't. If this bill were readable (417 days) and not be in need of enhancing, I would have entered it and left it alone.

Always thrilling to give someone else a hit and find out whose bill it was!!

Anyone know why that entry didn't add to my \(total, but was included as an entry and hit at the same time? (Bill Collector) If it is a note that was already entered by someone else it does not go on your total\). It will show up as a hit that you have entered but will not show up on your profile as an entered note, but it will show up as an entered note on your home page..

I was just wondering why my $$ amount didn't go up. Yes it's there as a hit entered and as an entry. :)

Seems like most of the time, the money is spent before I get it entered. I will type out the info needed, stamp it and spend it before I get a chance to enter it. or if I am on the go, (which seems to be a lot) it will get written down on one of many small pieces of paper.

So I found this bill that had both sites handwritten on it on one side. I gave it a proper CMT stamp, entered it here, and got the hit. I then entered it over at the Dark Site and found it had never been entered there. I came back to CMT, and found that this was the only bill the user had ever put in here.

So this user has entered 1 bill and has got 1 hit on this bill - Does this mean they will have a 100% hit ratio on the lists next time they are updated.

aw come on sarge you should be happy the person put the bill on this site and not on the other one. i for one thank anyone who takes the time to visit the site and enter a bill after all every trip starts with the first step.

i remember as i am sure many of us do the first time we entered this site as a newbie some stay for a short time others only visit once and then there are a few ofus who stay forever.

So, J-Lynn, are you saying you don't want anyone from Where's Willy to give hits to CMTers? Please keep in mind that most people joined after finding a marked bill so the site they call "home" is simply based on the site from which they found a bill first. I joined Where's Willy after reading a newspaper article but the first marked bill I found was from CMT. We are all part of the same hobby–tracking money. I will always enter bills from this site that I find, not just to give people hits but because I want to know where the bill has been and where it will go next.

I have only come across 1 WW bill, and I did enter it with the comment I was a CMT'er but figured they would still want the hit, as I would if the situation were reversed. I actually followed the comments in their forum for a few days and all the comments were positive - I believe most regular users there would hit one of my bills if they came across it, so I am in the "do unto other's…" camp.
Of course, it wasn't my note thas was defaced - I'm sure I'd be ticked about it too…

Well J-LYNN that is just plain wrong a true money tracker would just log on and hit the bill. I am truly surprised at the hatred some of our members have with the other sites.
We are all trackers and DR. has made it very clear on playing nice so for those of you who hold such malice towards other trackers it is just plain wrong. Shame for shame. I for one will hit any marked bill I received from any site I am able to log onto. It is the right thing to do!

i use give a hit to willy's when I came upon a marked bill, however, I have found that 99.9% of my marked bills are not being marked here on CMT, but were marked on Willy's.

If that is just "plain wrong" of me, well sorry. what goes around comes around.

i'm always amused by discussions regarding what is "right" as if there is moral high ground to be had here. i have alternately entered notes at WW (despite the assault on my wisdom and intellect logging in there entails…), blithely ignored the WW stamp other times and even blotted it out on occasion. depends on my mood – and you know, every one of those was the "right" thing to do. simply because tracking money is a personal choice (and there ain't a "money trackers hell").

ahhh yes… money tracking karma…. gotta love the concept…

lol.. hell no.. I am saying the most of the bills that I do find of Willy's go in the mutilated pile. Most of them are not fit enuf to pass on. Lots of doodling on them, etc.

I have been finding more and more CMT bills, in fine shape and very clean stamping.

Let me guess….. most of them were fives…. the state of the $5.00 bills lately has been pretty bad. Thank goodness we are about to be inundated with new bills in the very near future, although those that have a multitude of fives will probably lose a lot of bills in circulation as they remove the old fives… All depends on how aggressive the banks will be…. ;o(

Considering that I still get the old strip-less $10's (in F or VG) from bank tellers themselves, they are not as aggressive about removing the old bills as we thought.

It might depend on where you are. I have had very, very few of the old tens. It will be interesting to see how it goes when the new bills are introduced…..
