Another block of 1000

So I bought another block of 1000 uncirculated 5 dollar bills. Anyone in or around Saskatoon want in on this?

sprints

I wish I had the funds! However, if you spend them at the Tim Horton's on the corner of 33rd and Idylwyld, I might be lucky enough to get some of them in my change…

Pooga

Do you special order? And are you charged a fee?

I'd kinda like to do the same thing.

fordjae

I order them from Affinity Credit Union - River Heights Branch, and then distribute them to schnits. They come in wrapped bricks of 1000 notes, and there's a $15 service fee.

Onetobeseen

Sure, if you're giving them away lol

Actually, thats a lot of cash to have on a person. I'd be kinda scared to have that. Either that or have a well hidden safe…..

Pooga

So if I was in for a grand, my part of the fee would be $3.

Sounds interesting. When do you plan to do it again?

fordjae

That's correct. schnits might have a grand that's not yet stamped or entered, otherwise, I'll be bringing in another brick in the middle of April.

i agree with the sentiment that that is a lot of cash to have around… especially knowing the tiny amount that is actually normally covered by your home insurance. plus i'm thinking that you folks have got way better paying jobs than I if you can do that! :)

Pooga

Always have about a grand sitting in petty cash. What happens if the power goes out like Japan? No cash from ATMs, no debit or credit transactions….

Some of it is so well hidden, the wife doesn't remember where it is!

rudyk

just a friendly reminder to folks about keeping cash at home – unless you have other arrangements with your insurance broker, through SGI in Saskatchewan (and with many other companies), loss by fire, theft or money weevils will only get you $300 on a claim – no matter what you lost.

and Pooga… only I know where the tobacco tin full of cash is buried in MY backyard… save your confederate dollars – the south will rise again!!! :)

Safe from fire, but not flood? One she forgot was in a Wal-Mart bag at the bottom of the freezer!

And let's not forget that those nice crispy 5's have to be spent, not deposited in a bank!

Gas. Gw pilsner. Oil change. Gw pilsner. Groceries. Gw pilsner. Restaurant. More gw pilsner.

They shall remain in circulation.

pooga reminded:

awww… there you go killing the sport! ;) glad it was YOU, bud, 'cause if i'd have said that, there'd be calls for an inquiry! :)

Pooga also fished:

I'll bite… ahhh… cold, hard cash??…

Pooga

I'll bite… ahhh… cold, hard cash??…

The coldest! Was there so long, it was frosty.

Pooga

Speaking of forgetting…

One spring there was a sale at Birk's and I picked up a set of diamond earrings for my wife. I then hid them in the back of a filing cabinet to wait for Christmas. Except that when Christmas came around, I couldn't remember where I put them! And then as time when on, I forgot about them altogether.

Then when I finally ran across them, accidentally, it was 5 years later. That's when I finally gave them to her.

sprints

That reminds me of those stories you hear of people moving into old houses and finding money rolled up in curtain rods, in the walls, etc. because the old owners were so obsessed with hiding their valuables, and eventually never remember where it's all hidden.

Dr.JD Fever

Speaking of frosty, Pooga when you going to supply us with some 16, Anyone that has your kind of Ca$h in a freezer should be having a party to celebrate the fact you have had a hand in it's sucess- Now I ask my fellow CMT brothers and Sisters don't you think Pooga should share with us.???

BANKCOLLECTOR

Rudyk 5's are widely used in the drug trade this may raise some unwanted attention but I would be in for a block if available when I am back from Ontario. Pooga I don't think they want beer in trade.

BANKCOLLECTOR

jd can you wait for GW to come out with trading cards of the famous 16 to think we know one of them beer barons. He cannot spare beer for you JD he has to save it up for his lawn care.

Dr.JD Fever

Trust a Ukrainen to water his lawn lawn with beer, are you crazy BC?
We are lucky that he even has a lawn around his yard, and not free range chickens that he sells out of the trunk of his car in front of the LB store on weekends.
