Interesting story mesmerize.
In any city you don't really see the Northern lights like you do out of town or say on a deserted hiway.
Even driving from Calgary -> Regina several times You see amazing light shows.
Even stars are much nicer when you leave the comfort of the city.
I am not really any kind of astronomer, but one of the advantages of driving at night is seeing all the stars, Most of which you don't see when you are in the city.
Another Note.. when I was younger I would ride my bike 5 - 10 minutes north of regina sometimes & lay down & gaze into the sky.
Having grown up on the northern most outskirts of Regina makes it easier to do.
On a nice summer day it is kinda romantic to take a little drive even.
all it takes is 5 - 10 minutes out of the city.. you will see the glare of the city & realize why you wouldn't see all the stars & full effects of the Northern Lights.
