there is always that chance. if you are insanely wealthy, it doesn't hurt to keep them for a few years (at least) -- especially now with current bank interest rates being almost the same as what them sitting in your sock drawer is paying. :)
the truth is, though, that choice, uncirculated banknotes only start to get valuable after decades rather than years -- again, as long as they don't turn out to be a rare serial number or special plate -- and you won't know that for a couple of years, at least.
for me, personally, i know there are MANY uncirculated notes that i wished i'd kept and likely many more that i kept for, as it turned out, very little reason. often, when i get them now, i stamp them eagerly thinking that at least they are likely to stay in circulation, with my stamp on it, longer :)
