Recently, all of the banknotes I've received have been horrendously damaged or dirty. White powders, sticky substances, etc. Out of the 100 $5 notes I received today, only 52 were markable and usable; the rest I put in an envelope to redeposit into the bank.

I now have to handle our national currency with gloves and sanitise the surfaces it touches. This has been mostly happening with $5s but I've seen it with some $20s too. What's going on with the Bank of Canada?
