re: WHAT TIME IS IT? |

Actually, we're on Mountain Daylight Savings time year round. You should hear how the western part of the province complains that they want to stay on 'Alberta' time all year, and the eastern half wants to be on 'Manitoba' time. That's what happens when you get the time zone divider running right down the middle of the province! I was looking at some of the historical documents from pre-1905 on different ways the prairies were to be divided into provinces. It was Ontario and Quebec who decided that there would be 3 provinces out here instead of 2 or even 1 so that they would continue to hold the economic clout in the country. Take the prairies, subtract the original, tiny Manitoba (southeast), and imagine the economic power of the result! (of course the capital would still have been North Battleford, but it would have been VERY different!). Enough history for one day!
