I always keep my pages in a Ziplock bag. I also find that placing the pad on the car dash behind the windshield on a sunny day also helps.
Normally when my pad dries, I 'charge' it with a new pad (new pads always seem to smear the ink).
I shall definitely be trying out the rubbing alcohol... If it helps to expand the life, its well worth it.
Normally when my pads are "dead" I just throw them out and purchase new ones.
