Usually Ontario & Quebec people I met would say something like "From Saskatchewan? It's pretty flat out there, isn't it?"

I would usually respond with "Well, it sure beats 3,000 miles of pre-cambrian f*****g rocks!"

My apologies now for the above astericked(?) word, but I used it to get my point across when I was there.
