Flash freeze - part 2 |
Message: |
Ok, I was watching the Weather Channel last night and there were a couple of weather warnings that make an old prairie guy wonder.
On the West Coast, they have an "Arctic Outflow Warning". I can sort of figure this one out. Since there normally isn't any winter on the Coast, any time a blast of Arctic air comes south, they warn everyone in Lotusland about it.
But in Ontario, they had a "Flash Freeze Warning". I was wondering if you eastern types could explain that one to me.
For example, yesterday morning in Saskatoon, it was -36, with a WC of -51. Now if you step outside, you freeze in a flash! That would be reasonable definition for me. But the lows in Ontario were only -5 to -10. Positively balmy!
