re: Website layout leaves much to be desired |

while your perspective is certainly valid and welcome, you have to acknowledge the biases inherent in the premise. you cannot expect all or even a significant percentage of people who join will ever want to seriously track banknotes. the exercise that you propose will not reveal anything about that which makes people not return any more than it will explain how many of us have chosen to stay. either you are interested in tracking money or you are not. and even THAT is not a constant for i can think of instances where people excited about money-tracking have essentially left the site -- not because of any perceived shortcomings here, but simply because you cannot reasonably assume that interest or motivation remains always at the same level. YOU are interested in tracking..... *i* am interested in tracking. and i am pretty certain that OUR motivations are completely different. what hooks people is similarly diverse and disparate.
what attracted me to this site was that it chose canadian conventions and in particular, WESTERN canadian conventions. you can find ample evidence of that view in my earliest posts. i'll always fight the unnecessary americanization of our culture and, our best avatar of that culture, language. we call them banknotes here, and i am perfectly willing to gently correct anyone who chooses to succumb to the laziness that pervades the usage of our neighbours to the south. that is, after all, the colour of the current discussion.
